Rock Hero: Ok so I’m a little late to the party, but Rock Band still hasn’t actually launched in the UK yet - another 2 months to wait* - so I went the ebay importer route. I’ve only had one session so far, first up - epic fail on the Rock Band guitar - one of the strap pegs was missing so i had to play minus strap, sitting down - which is ok - but not anyway near as good. Graphically Rock band has the edge, the effects make it look like a slick video. Customisable characters are fun. Initially the difficultly level is way too easy, but I guess I’m used to Guitar Hero, but the first couple of songs were a tad boring and I even got 100% on them. But I love the way the crowd start singing the chorus when you are doing well. The guitar is, erm, different - i think it was generally a bit more comfortable for my hands, YMMV. The strum bar didn’t quite have the feedback of the Guitar Hero ones. The song list was instantly an improvement on Guitar Hero, it’s just more up to date (well more last 20 years) So i was more at home, that said some of the old rock classics just work better in this game, The NIN song was really dull, game wise - awesome song, but the play patterns were quite dull (on easy).
I’ve not yet done the drum n bass m vocals things - Saving that for the weekend, I expect that will nail the Guitar Hero coffin lid shut (until GH4 comes out in october!!!)
But basically in single player guitar mode - they are much and such. RB feels slightly more like a ‘next version’ which of course it is.

* xbox360 version came out in may - just instrument and seperate game version - no bundled special edition.  PS2/PS3/Wii vesions are coming out end of august or later.  - even though this came out in the US last november!!!
