When HD goes bad: There is something about HD compression that is really annoying, at times it ends up looking worse than an SD image.  Here in the olympic diving it just cant cope with the fast moving crowd shots.  This is a paused image.  I find the compression has an annoying habbit of adding a ‘smoke’ or ‘dusty’ noise to large flatish areas.  It’s less of an issue with blu-ray, but I have seen it on disks as well as sky HD. Still miles ahead of SD (most of the time).  It’s all about the compression baby.
